Default Twisted axle splines

I've got a pair of Moser axles with Green bearings. One of the axles has a little bit of twist in the splines. I know that some twist is acceptable. How much is too much?

Here is a pic of the good splines and a pic of the shaft of the axle with the twist. The twist is just shy of one full spline.

Well, for what it's worth I wouldn't run that axle.

I agree. That one is total junk. Any axle with any spline twists gets thrown in the dump asap. You could never predict when it would fail you.

I've had some people tell me that up to 3 splines of twist is acceptable.

As I didn't think that any twist was acceptable, I thought I would ask here.

I've also emailed the picture to Moser, to see what they think.

Saw a set like that for sale at a Mopar swap meet, 8 3/4 A length and twisted 1 spline, 30 bucks. They were sticking out of the dumpster when I closed the place.

See a circus... they use them for tent pegs. You might get a couple of bucks each.

Swap sides and the axle twist should disappear shortly.

A tech at Moser looked at the picture. He confirmed that a twist of one spline width is too much.

I guees todays twisted splines are tomorrows beer cans...

From the backing plate to the end, they are 27". From the backing plate to the begining of the current splines, they are 23¾"
