Default Windage tray

I found a windage tray for my 318 but do I need to purchase longer bolts for it or are my stock ones long enough?

How does it go together? Pan-gasket-tray-gasket?

A small block tray attaches to four of the main cap bolts. Those four bolts have tall heads with 1/4-20 tapped holes in them.

The pan-gasket-tray-gasket layout is what the big blocks use.

Hi Jim, If you got the Mopar windage tray, you'll need to get their attaching hardware kit, which consist of longer main bolts/studs. You can get this kit from Mancini, Summit, etc. You can probably also order them from Alamo Performance, which is only a few minutes from your house. Are you gathering parts for a motor rebuild? Taken care of the tranny yet? I plan on installing my motor in the Dart today or tomorrow. Later, Tom

Wow those are totally different. Had no idea. Thanks, guess I'll wait a little while.

Tom, I ordered new leaf springs, and a new kickdown cable and linkage set. I hope this solves the slipping problem. If not, then its a rebuild of the tranny.
I needed the kickdown anyway, so I figured I'd try it first.

Dana 60 with 4.10's is on the way too. No plans for a new engine yet, that one is still running strong. Did install an autoguage tach yesterday.

You'd better fire up the kerosene heater if your going to play with that engine today. Call me if you have too much beer.

when I installed a 340 windage tray on my 318 I found that the main caps were shorter on the 318 and the special bolts did not thread in far enough. I think I had to use washers to get it to work.

Put the trans in today, motor going in tomorrow afternoon. If your not working come on by. Garage is heated and there will be beer!

There are shorter 318 windage tray bolts. I think I have a couple sets if you can not find any. Just PM me if you need some. Dan

I had that same problem with my 273, I had a windage tray off of my 68 340 and I tried using it on my 273 and the caps were smaller, I had no Idea they made shorter bolts for that, I just assumed that it was a 273 thing and they as far as I know, never came with a windage tray, Oh well.

Heck I'm learning all kinds of new stuff from this post. Thanks JD

Sorry Tom, this was my last night off. I sleep all day tomorrow and go back to work in the afternoon.

Dahemikota, let me check around and see if anyone offers one specifically for the 318 and I'll get back to you. Got to go to Alamo performance on tuesday anyway.
