Default what kind of horsepower will i have

i tried to post this in the engine forum but it wouldn't let me, but any how

i bought a 1975 440 that has been bored .030 and has 8.5:1 piston, a .450 lift mp cam, mp dual plane intake, a windage tray, and topped with a holley 750cfm carb
about how much horsepower does this engine have???

i'm thinking about some modifications like 10:1 pistons, balancing the crank, rods, and pistons , 484 or 509 mopar cam and some mild port work and a 3 angle port job.

what do you guys think, i'm just looking for a strong running street engine that will run on 93/94 octane in my 66 coronet, and will put a hammering on my brother in-laws little 305 84 camaro and his brothers hopped up 350 nova thats supposed to be pushing 425hp.??

300-350HP

Better build it good, a nova is a pretty light car.

I would definately give it new pistons, more compression = more horsepower

Default cam timing

Maybe have Racer Brown cut you a cam that can reduce overlap to build more cylinder pressure if you don't want(if its out of your budget???) to take the engine completely down. Maybe thinner head gaskets as well.

Just a thought....

Have you made a measurement of how far the piston is in the hole?

I recently worked on a 440 that was bored/rebuilt .030 over. I'm sure it would have been rated at 8.5, but was really closer to 7.5 when I did the measurements.

Hard to get good power from 7.5:1. Good torque not so hard.

Shoot for 9:1 with open chambered iron heads.

A racer brown cam would be a good upgrade. He can alter it to reduce how much it bleeds off.

Generally 1 full point of compression is good for a 4% gain in hp.

There's lots of ways to get some more power..

You could gain a point of comp with a set of 516 heads. Ported up they will perform alright.
Pocket port whatever head you pick.
A set of gears(3.91 or so) and a low buck stall converter(like a B&M white box 3K) willl give you instant gains.
more cam. the cam is the heart of the engine.
