Unhappy 727/904?

727 or 904? Are there 2 different bell housings for 727? One small block and one big block? Whats the best way to tell the diff if their is. I know the pan is the best way to identify but how about the bell housing itself. is there some special mark or measurementI should check to see what tranny i have?

Actually 3, with the front of the case being different depending on whether you have a slant six, big or small block version.
I'm not usually a big Car Craft Magazine fan, but this page is good for identifying the differences between the various Mopar RWD automatic transmisions.

The easiest way to differentiate between the BB and SB bellhousings is to look at the bottom four bolt holes, the BB has four equal sized holes while the SB has two small holes near the center and two larger bolt holes farther out.

Exclamation 727

Well i have a bb 727 tranny. I am looking to put it behind my 440 in my mud truck and was looking for suggestions. 1. shift kit full manual, or not 2 stall speed for a daily driver and mud boggin. 3. brand name rebuild kit and type of rebuild kit. 4. the rear planetary gear, i have a 3 gear, and i know of a 4, 5, and today i found a 6 gear rear planetery. any reason to take one over the other???
