Default magnum motor to A-833 4 speed need input shaft cut?

I'm trying to bolt my A-833 transmission to my 360 magnum crate motor and it doesnt seem to want to go on. I havent given it everything I got yet , I seem to remeber reading that the shaft may need to be cut shorter because the depth on the magnum crank pilot hole is less than the LA engine.Anybody out there done this combination?

not certain either, but that sounds like something I read awhile back too. To check it out, put some playdoh on the end of the crank and attempt to put the trans in. You'll know if its bottoming out then. You don't need much, just enough to see if its bottoming. After you put the playdoh in put a little oil where the input shaft will hit it. then the playdoh will stay put and won't come out with the trans,
