Unhappy In need of a Daytona alt/waterpiump bracket bushing??....

I have a 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z 2.2 Turbo 1. I am in need of a alt/waterpump bracket bushing. The one I need is located on the front of the engine where your adjust the tension on the alt. belt. It also conects to the waterpump I beleive. I need NOS or someplace that reproduces them as Chrysler no longer has them. Well, as far as the complete bracket they can no longer get, but as for the bushing they couild not find a listing for them.

I may have some. Give me a day to two to look for them. IF I don't get back to you just bump this back to the top and I'll let you know.

I have some around here somewhere but I can't find them. I know I have seen them recently, but I can't lay my hands on them. I hate it when that happens.

But, I did find you a place that sells them. It's third on the list and new ones cost $2.00 ea. NOt a bad price at all. Here's the link. http://www.buymopar.com/store/fwd.html

If I find mine you can have them if you have not bought these already.

Hey thanks alot. I have not been able to find them at the local parts stores, and Chrysler can no longer get them. You helped out a bunch. I will go ahead and order them from the site. Thanks for looking and searching for them. I have recently replaced all the motor mounts that had long been over due.

I checked out the site and that is not what I was needing. I need the bushing that looks like a donut that fits at the bottom front of the ALT. on the front upright adjuster bracket closest to the radiator at the bottom. The water pump is also attackhed to the bracket. The bracket is good I just need the gasket/bushing.

Question

Thanks for trying. Do you know where I can find one? I know that more than one car has the same bracket with the bushing I need.

If it's the one I am thinking of you'll just have to do some junk yard hunting. Sorry. You might change to a different bracket style.

Yeah, sorry about that. Some of that stuff is getting hard to find now. Around here junk yards are starting to crush wayyyyy tooooo many cars and they used to not do that. Since you have cheapo stores and Advance auto and such, I guess they are not making money like they used to so they crush cars to get cash.

I did have a bunch of fwd cars and parts but I sold most of them. If I can find the time I'll dig through what's left and see if I still have one. Same for the half-shaft. I let a guy from OH come down and pick my parts cars pretty clean but he left a bunch of stuff. If I don't have it I'll look his email addy up and give it to you.

Yes a lot of the junkyards around here have crushed so many cars. The parts stores may be cheap on new parts but they do not have everything.

Hey Mopard,
It took me 2 tries digging thru my junk but I believe I found what you are looking for. I would call it the alternator adjusting bracket. It bolts to the front of the waterpump housing. At the bottom where it bolts there is a large rubber bushing, doesn't look like it could be serviced separately from the bracket. At the top of the bracket there is a slot for the alternator adjustment bolt. The whole bracket is about 10-12" long. If this is what you need pm your address and I'll mail it to you, just reinburse me for the postage. I thought I had a half-shaft also but I was unable to find it. The parts guy probably got it.

BTW, I found 2 alternator brackets.

Hey thanks for the reply and for thinking about me. dwc43. Us Mopar people have got to stick together to keep these Mopars on the road. The oldies and the FWDs.

It started raining while I was looking so I only brought one to the shop. The bushing looked ok to me. The other one is still bolted to the waterpump housing so I didn't bother to grab it.

It is rare to find Mopar people like you and me that like the oldies but goodies and the FWD Mopars, Well, auctualy, I am the only one around here that likes them both. It is good that other people out their like them both, that way it is easier to find parts for them. And we all know how hard it is to find parts. At least around here.

MOPARD, Why don't you come down here in June to Dukefest and see over 100 General Lee's ?? I'm trying to get DYNO360 to go with me too. He went to one last year that was way off from here. It will be in Nashiville at the race track I run at.

That's a good question, how will you know I am there? I know I will be going with Dyno 360. He's quite taller than I am, but I guess that is no help. IF you knew you were goin we could plan to meet up.

Thats is a good question. I am not totaly sure I will be able to go or not. I don't get to go to swap meets or cars show very often. Can't afford to most of the time.
