Default Rod bushing

Hi at all.

Now I got a new Connecting rod for my 383. The problem is that there is no bushing installed. The problem here in Germany is that no Engine shop has any parts for a chrysler BB. If I want to have new bushings in my rods ( 3ea.) I can easily expect 250 eur. (300$) for honing, manufactruring of the bushings and installing of them. I dont think that it stays in relation to the cost of 3 NOS connecting rods. Do I really need the bushing for the piston pin? Its not a daylie driver. Just for the summer.

Thx in forward

greetings Jan

What is the pin size? 1.094 press fit Stock? They had floater and press fit pin, bushing is just to recondition an old rod and if it is OEM NOS (new old stock) I bet it is ready for a stock pin. Also bushings are available for about 5 bucks US a piece here.

Whats the application here?

Most 383's are interferance fit on the pin end.

No bushing is required.

Is the motor torn down? Is the rod you got the right one/ is it matched to your current rods?

I have to balance the the rods to the weight of the other ones. I´m rebuilding the complete engine. Its for Strip/Street. I asked our shop for Mopars and he said that he built a few engines with floating pins without bushing in the rod. He recommend to drill a hole in the top of the rod for pin oiling.
So would you agree with him? Floating pin without bushing?

THX Ja
