Default High idle 86 5th avenue

I have an 86 5th ave with a 318 2 bbl. Pump it once hit the key, takes right off. Try to kick off the high idle... it won't go it has to run quite some time to idle down. I have looked when it's running, the choke opens right up. I have backed off the idle solenoid some but that seems to have no bearing on anything.. HELP!!!!!!!!!

If you're satisfied the solenoid is adjusted properly, inspect the driver's side throttle linkage during a cold start to see why the fast idle cam is hanging up after the choke opens. You'll figure it out as you watch. Hope that helps, if you haven't already done that.
