Help A/C vs power

Ok here is a question that im hoping i can get a straight and concise answer to i have gotten so many different answers.
a '72 400hp engine with A/C if i was to remove the compressor belts would it actually increase power?????

Removing the belts will not increase power. Removing the belts will decrease the parasitic loss of power.

Ed is right, but if your compressor clutch is working properly, the drag while it is freewheeling is pretty minimal. A dyno would be able to measure the difference at higher RPM, but you never would notice in everyday use.
