Default Nitrous for 5.7L Dodge Magnum

Have a 2005 5.7L Magnum. Am currently running 87 Octane fuel. Upgraded with a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust package, Mopar cold-air induction system, throttle-body spacer and just added the new Superchips tuner ... still need more GO. Anyone have comments on a nitrous application that has worked and what is the best application? Do I need to make engine modifications to reinforce and handle the new power?

Hey Magnum, I am having a reacurring front brake warping problem with my 2005. Already have had them turned twice. Dealer says I am using them to hard, that's bull. I don't do any hard driving (although I sure would like to). I read the Car and Driver article and they had the problem too. Have you heard through the vine bout this problem? Do I see class action fix?

Back to you CharlieOneWay ... no problem with front brake/rotor warping here. Just turned 33K miles and replaced pads ... all four sets had cracks resulting in squealing. A quick clean-cut with new pads (Midas quality pad series) and back on the road with no noise.

These guys sell a good product. They claim that the kits that they sell will make the advertised HP #s @ the wheels. (not @ the crankshaft as other companies kits do), and most of thier kits with the exception of the really high HP ones are safe for the stock engine/drivetrain if installed and used properly. I've seen a few TV shows, and read a few mag articles that have tested the NX kits, and found that thier HP claims are true. I'm sure that they will be glad to answer any technical questions that you may have if you give them a call.

I am curious why you are running 87 octane but are trying to get more performance.

My '06 manual specifies 89 octane, but 87 can be used with a chance of reduced performance. The engine was designed to run the best on 89.

Yeah, and if you do decide to install a Nitrous oxide kit, it would be a REALLY good idea to run premium fuel in that case.

I agree ... but the '05 Magnum 5.7 called for 87. Performance settings with the Superchip tuner calls for 87 or 91 depending on what you're trying to achieve. Since this is a daily driver, during these summer months in So Cal I find it best to run 89.

Thanks for the reply.
