Default Mini-starter, high Torque?

Is there a brand of mini-starter for a SBD that is better for a header application. Is there such an item as a high torque or high heat unit?
I got this part number from a search - Denso #F5000-130046.

Small Denso units are available over the counter at most parts places for around 80 bucks. Look up a Dodge V6 ram for example, and take a look at it in the box. There are at least 3 different models with the longer cases being the higher rated in KWs The only thing to keep an eye out for is the placement of the cables. Sometimes they have to be moved for header clearance. These starters are like 2.5 times the torque with half the amps of an old style starter and sound very japanese when cranking, youll get over it...

Only other choice than the Mopar unit is a true race unit that will cost you between $275 and $475. They are small and make more torque than the Mopar units.

Oh, and how much more torque do you get with the spendier one, or dont you have your notes handy. The fancier ones are basically the same, they just have a sticker on them, whoopde doo.

There's four different ones for you since you can't do your own research, and they are a lot more than just a fancy sticker.

Mp mini starter

Maximum Recommended Compression Ratio: 12.0:1
Gear Reduction Ratio: 4.40:1

TCI HP starter

Starter Style: Mini
Starter Finish: Natural
Adjustable Mounting Block: Yes
Starter Rotation: Standard
Maximum Recommended Compression Ratio: 11.0:1

They'll remove about five pounds from your front-end for better weight distribution, and will provide more room for headers and oil pans. They develop nearly 50 percent more cranking torque than your OE starter, and their efficient design draws less amperage, leaving more power for your ignition system. TCI even tests these starters under starting load for assured dependability and reliability in your vehicle. Some units are adjustable for different mounting orientations.

Hmm, the starters off of the minivans work just fine for me, I just pull the cases off and mount them to the v8 aluminum and away I go.
Oh, and they dont cost anywhere near the prices you quoted.

I just get one for a 95 5.2.............................

Been doing it for ever........on everything that has the old starter die.

Works great in -20, I bet that takes more torque than a 12-1 hot rod.

Funny thing is, the MP high torque and the current ND starter are the same, once you remove the case.

To all those who contributed - I thank you
Bought the Mopar performance one - new unit same price as mopar re-built or auto value re-built - no core charge - go figure.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ but... how do they perform better? do they spin the engine faster?? or start the car better??? or go vrooommmm????

If the MP starter starts the car fine and the ones you talk about start the car fine, isn't that the same performance (in this application, at least)???

If not.... do you also have an outlet or part number for high performance lug nuts or maybe a high performance, stealth, nitro injected radiator cap....

Yeah, Yeah... I know... but I just couldn't leave this one alone... :-)

Aluminum lug nuts! Don't you know you're endangering yourself and everyone else within 100 miles of you!?! How irresponsible...

Well for starters you are. Yes.Yes.He asked if there was better ones for header clearance and heat sheided, and there are so I answered his question correctly. He did not ask if it would start his car better. And no it's not the same in performance either. The performance starters have heat barrier coatings, more torque, more hp and most all of them are gear different between brands including the mp starter.

Never seen a hp lug nut, but they do make specific lug nuts for many stock, aftermarket and race wheels. And for the last part of that question read your opening statement and correct it please.

My arn't we getting a little thin skinned... I was just having a little fun... gee... wow... SORRY....

As for being in Williston... if my brother-in-law (James) makes it, I might go... I don't do much round-d-round any more... I think I'm a crappy driver... sold all the Mod stuff way back when...

But I like to go watch when James is in town... If I do get there, I'll look you up...
