Question

I bought a 360 from the local salvage yard to build for my 65 Barracuda, well I'm done building it and realized to late that I didnt get or check the torque converter for the weight size(the engine is from a 78 Cordoba) Is there any way to correct for this without having to tear it down and get it balanced? My wife works a Dodge dealer so I can get a new balancer fairly cheap(needs one anyway)but the parts guy said there was no way to determine the weight size needed for the converter. Any help is appreciated

Two things come to mind. First, I would consider purchasing the B&M scalloped flex plate. It allows the use of a neutral balance convertor on the externally balanced engine like the 360. Mopar didn't change the counterwieght until the 90's if my memory is correct.

Secondly, I would purchase the heavy duty balancer from Mopar. It can be found under most manual transmission applications and I believe it was standard prior to '75. The balancer features a center hub with the counterweight cast into it. This way the counterwieght does not slip or change position over time like the ring mounted counterweight can. List on the HD model is around $225 and $165 for the std model.

I agree with 340king on the B&M scalloped flex plate. Use this and you won't have to worry about balancing the torque convertor. I'm using this in my 67 360 Barracuda.

having a converter shop it is easier when a person uses a B/M flex We have to grind off the weight to cut open the converter weld balance and put the 120 weight back on.
If you can get your hands on a DACCO converter book it has the info for the different engines and the weights and diagram where to put the weights on. Jim
