Question 340 Block Question

While working on my 340 (72) I noticed stamped into the pan rail between the back main and oil filter it says: M 105 lbs.
I've never noticed this before. Is this normal?
Am I right in assuming this is the weight of the block?

Thanks.

I guess it could have been put there by some girl M bragging about her weight.

I'm not familiar with the stamping you refer to but if I remember correctly a bare 340 block weighs about 140.

could it be a torque spec for those mains? @105 ft/lbs? It sounds too logical to be true...

Since the factory spec for 340 mains is 85, probably not.

Not trying to start anything but my info shows a 340 block at 165lbs and ditto for the 360.

Default Could it be.......

something the machine shop put there to spec the torque on the mains? I'm using ARP main bolts and had the mains line bored - very minor clean up.

Gripe I guess that nobody.........

else has seen this so it must be something the machine shop did?????
Guess I'll have to go back to the shop and see. The guy that did my engine has quit and the owner has retired and let his son run the business now so I'm not sure I can find out what happen. I was hoping somenone knew what I was talking about but I guess it is a local problem only. Thanks.
But then we all have our mountains to climb.
