New Mopar R/T heads

Got the heads for the Demon 360 project this week. Really good looking all the way around. Large ports, square, unrestricted exhaust ports, good runners, heart shaped combustion chamber. Sure look like the unobtainable Commando heads! They use AMC valve gear for oiling the rockers. The casting quality and finish is exceptional. The spacing on the center exhaust ports is wider than the usual small block heads. Hope headers won't be a problem, cost wise.
I recommend them to anyone looking for heads.

Default The 1/4 mile will tell!

Get it on the dyno to see how good they are,
then run it down the 1/4 and let's us in on the
good info.

Good luck with it!

Default Patience needed

My car won't be on it's wheels for about a year. I'm real anxious to see how they work. My engine builder says they are great heads, and he was open to any I wanted to use. His experience has been very good. I looked at an early set he had before I ordered, and liked what I saw. The casting quality and finish on mine are far superior to his old ones. Good things happening at Mopar, perhaps?

Default Part number

The heads are "Mopar R/T", not Magnum R/T, and the part number (last four numbers) is 7950.

The head is closed chamber, 60 CC's. I have never figured out how to post pics, but you can see a picture of the heads on the Mopar site. Part 5007950 shows a good view.
Comp responded to my cam request with this recommendation. Comp #20-225-4, with 284/296, 240/246@0,050, .507/.510 lift. My uneducated choice was one number away! Outta work nice!

Default Peg Leg

thanks
Do the intake ports have a necking in them like the old LA style for push rods or are they pretty much the same width?
FYI the 20-225-4 cam is a mopar cam ground to the chevy profile ie smaller lifter diameter. Its still a decent cam, but doesnot take full advantage of the mopar lifter diameter. If you go to a 20-228-4 it is nearly the same cam in degrees but the lift is .545 and is ground to take advantage of the mopar lifter. Ask comp what the impact would be on your combo if you went to the 20-228-4. It may be a bit too radical for your intended use. I'd be interested in their reply.

Thanks for the info. The intake ports are quite a bit less restricted, and the exhausts are so direct, you could fall in! There will be some porting done around the seats and stem boss, however.
The head cc's at 60 and Mopar said not to exceed 0.520 lift with this head and my KB flat tops. This 20-225-4 should do very well, I think. The magic is apparently in the staggered duration and over .500 lift, which are both desirable, I'm told. I hope this will be a good choice.
Yes, I am determined to post pics, and it seems I do it all right, but the computer won't send the stuff. GRRRRRRR.

My engine guy bought them, and I think he did get them from Mopar. He has serious connections at Jeep. He is the organizer of the Jeep off road rally at Mopar's at at the Strip in Vegas every year.

I scoped out Mancini they have some heads that are close. I think the only difference is the valve sizes are a little different. I am just trying to make future plans for the 360 in my car port. Thanks for the info!!

Default Dodgetruckboy..........

That was mean. I've been here for YEARS and I still have problems posting pix's. How long do I have left? My problem is that my computer always puts too many pixel's into the pic and then the site won't accept becaues it's too big. Thanks again to those that have helped me post in the past. Maybe if I lived in TEXAS I would be perfect too.
