Gauges...
Im going to supercharge my Ram. I was looking at extra gauges and I was wondering if there was a big difference in the performance of the mechanical or electrical gauges. Also, I am told that there is not a real need for the boost gauge. It is just there to show what you are getting out, not what is starting to mess up. EGT, Trannie Temp, and Fuel to air Ratio are supposed to be the three most important. Has anyone heard any different??? And What about the full and half sweep gauges... There is a big difference in price. What about performance?? Thanks

Performance wise, a known name brand should do just fine. I'd do a full sweeping guage. The more the needle moves, the easier it is to see small changes. A boost gauge is good to use as a ref. when driving and tuning. After the drive and tune, there is no real need to have it.
Modern electric gauges are best, but a mech, vaccum, vaccum boost or boost gauge will be perfect since they give instant reading on any changes. Price, forgetaboutit. If your concerned with price at this stage.....But I don't think thats it. There all in the same area. |
