Default Magnaflow Mufflers

I just got done installing a 2" X pipe to 2 1/4" dual magnaflows on a 77 D100SB, with nice running 360 I built a couple years ago, for a friend. I have never used magnaflows before, but that is what he brought me. I must say, they are very nice sounding, and looking mufflers, straight through design, no chamber. But real quiet, and sound great with a mild cammed manifolded 360.

That is all.

I have a pair on a car right now 2 1/4 all the way through. Will never buy anymore either. Should have known better to start with. Most restrictive muffler set I have ever had. cars just under powered with these things on it. Should have out some flowmasters on it. When these are done, that's what will go on it, for sure.

Oh, I get it now. Your trying to tell us your car is slow. We already knew that, and your's have always been loud too.

Now mines not really loud at all. But the magnaflow mufflers did kill quite a bit hp out of the dang thing.

What size engine is it on, DW? I'm wondering if anybody out there has bought the Summit after header 2 1/2" exhaust kit for A bodies? Says it uses "Summit" turbo muffers, but we know they got somebody making them for Summit. It's in the low $200s, good thing is, it's mandrell bent, and I could put an X pipe on there, and be way ahead of what tti wants for their kit, which I'm sure is good, but $$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!

It's on a 318 that I use for a daily driver at this time. I am not very impressed with them at all. Sounds o.k., but I don't do mufflers for sound, I build for performance when I build so sound is not an issue with me. You can tell me it sounds like crap after you catch back up to me right? Like that will really hurt my feelings while I'm counting the money I won off of you ... lol!!

dwc, the 318 in my Dually, runs twice as good as yours does anyway, I am sure, used mismatched pistons, and all.

I doubt that. Mine has a low milage original long block in it. I'm sure it runs better in stock form than your mismatched junkster engine.

I have a magnaflow (Walker) on my 04 hemi Quad cab. I didn't lose one once of power. It sounds good but not to loud. It growls when I get on it. I like it.

Mufflers (alone) don't free up or restrict tons of power. Unless you are going from a high restriction muffler to one of the performance muffler, your butt dyno can't tell the difference.

Running it on a dyno with the old mufflers and then with the new mufflers is the only real way to determine if you got a gain (or a loss).

I have a set of magnaflow "wide-opens" on the dart and I like them. They are pretty quiet until you put your foot into it then they get really loud and throaty.

I took the flowbastards off. They were almost too loud for street use and droned way too much for cruising around.

Did you notice a difference in power when you removed the flowmasters? I doubt it. I was not disputing the quality of a flowmaster, but simply stating I really liked the sound, and quality of the magnaflows. Real nice mufflers, sound great, I almost wish I had've known before I put my order in for my Hooker Comp headers, and Aerochambers. I will not be running dual pipes with the areochambers though, I am going to run a X, two mufflers, then into one 4" truck stack, instead of the two pipes out the side, in front of the rear wheels. I think it will sound good.
In fact, if I had've known magnaflows were so nice, I would have used them instead, for sure.

E is right, you will never really know switching performance mufflers to performance mufflers on a street car, or truck, other than sound.

I have 2 1/2 Magna Flows on my Challenger 383. Used to have stock resonators. The Magna Flows are fantastic. Not too loud cruising but a geat growl when the foot goes down. I can't beieve they would take away Horse power.. they are very free flowing with straight thru pipe, unlike Flowmasters which are baffled with partitions.
