Default 69 Roadrunner Value

I am not sure if this is the proper forum for this question. If it is I appologize in advance.

My friend currently has in storage, A 1969 Hemi Roadrunner with a factory roll cage. From what he was told by the original owner, who happened to work for chrysler at the time, is that the 69 Roadrunner was going to be used in the movie "Bullit". However, they changed thier mind and went with the charger, if I'm not mistaken. Before this happened Chrysler supposedly built 3 69 Roadrunners for the movie. When the original owner found out about this he had the factory build him and his son identical copies. I am waiting for my friend to call me with the VIN number for verification. He also says that he has documentation to go with the story about the movie and the cage.

The only information he could remember off hand was :
1969 Roadrunner
426 Hemi
4 speed manual
Black on Black
Factory roll cage
Numbers matching
LESS than 700 original miles

I am not familiar with Mopars so any help is appreciated.

Oh Yeah, THE CAR IS NOT FOR SALE (I told him I would kill him if he sold it), just want value information for insurance purposes.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

As far as I know the factory has never installed roll cages in there cars. Movie compaines usually hire a crew to build there cars for them. Most stunt companies also build there own stunt cars cause they need to be balanced and set up to do the stunts that they were designed for.

Also the Steve McQueeen movie "Bullet" used a '68 Charger. Not sure when it was filmed though, but that is a years difference there. I think I'd do some checking on that story.

From movie history......... Steve McQueen movie Bullitt was filmed in and around San Francisco in late April 1968

That would have made it impossible to have a 1969 Road Runner, since 1968s were still being built into June or July.

The movie used two 1968 Chargers and two Mustangs.

BS!

I remember the movie having 68 vintage cars also.

I'd be interested in knowing what the option code is for a roll cage. I've never heard of a factory cage, not even in factory built race cars.(hemi darts etc)

The story doesn't hold much water. If it is a reall 69 hemi road runner, it's worth alot, and even if it's a clone it's worth a lot.

1968 pretty much the same value... As Davd571 says, worth alot (even if a clone).

Thanks for the info. I am just going by what my friend told me. When he gets me the VIN it will be easier to determine value.

Yes, My 385CID Small block Chevy makes 589 HP and 449 TQ. HP is at 7700 and Tq is at 6000. I have video if you would like to see.
