Default Took the Duster to the track tonight.

It did preaty good for running the BFG T/A radials,First pass i dogged it out of the hole and ran a 12.4 @ 111 second run i got it up on the converter and nailed it off the line,it spun thru first and most of second and got a 13.4 @ 105 so would ya think high 11's with a set of 9 or 10 inch slicks maybe?

The biggest, widest tires that will fit. Really, what's your goal? Go as big as you can afford and if you want to go bigger, wait, save and then do it.
4-links,or Ladder Bars will help you.

With a 9" slick you'll be getting close to 11's for sure. THere is a such thing as too wide a tire too. IT can actually slow oyu down a bit if they are too wide.

I run 26/8.5 MT on my Scamp with a stock 904 converter and 3.91 gears. I run in the 11.80s.

The car hooks real well with about 15lbs of air.

Biggest fattest tires you can find? I got a set of 15X10 Shelby's (Ansen style) in the 5 on 4 pattern that are TOO wide for my lipped '65 Barracuda. They have 295/50R15's. Sounds just right for a Duster that has no lip over the rear tires.

Ace:

With a good pair of slicks and some gears, like 4.30s or so you should run in the low 11s or high 10s.

My combo is a 30 over 360 with a MP 508 cam,stock heads,Air Gap manifold, and a Edelbrock 625 or 750. With the 625 I have run a best of 11.97@113. With the 750, I have run 11.86 @115.
I just installed a Hughes 3500 converter, I have not been out to see what differance the converter made.

Have fun

I shift it at 6k and i wasn't looking to hard but i'd say around 4500 to 5k at the end. This is just a street car for the most part,it's the first time i ever ran the car at the track just wanted to c what it would do,it's not set up for the track at all really as far as the suspension goes.

Do you mind posting your tire size in XXX/XX/Rxx form. That's the only form I know.

I want to compare your tire size to mine. We have simular builds (minus solid lifters, wilder cam, and Magnum Eddy heads), as you know so I'm hoping to be within a second of your time.

Dust they are 255/60 r15's on 8 inch rims.about as wide as i can fit without a little massaging i could prolly get some 275/60 r15's to fit rolling the inside lip over on the outer fenders, would b close as hell to the springs and inside wheel tub.rims have 4.5 back spacing.I drove it to the track prolly a 55 or 60 mile round trip and made the passes, started with a full tank of gas when i got home still had a tad over half a tank left.

Your 60fts are terrible. You can make this car work with good leaf springs good shocks and a pinion snubber for occasional strip duty. And will still handle well on the road.Good for low- mid 11,s Anything faster we need to start talking ladder bars and coilovers. Then it starts moving towards a race car.Go to a swap meet and get some old Weld or Centerline 8 or 10" wheels. Mount some slicks on them and take them to the track with you.I dont care how wide a street tire you put on.If you have good power and a good convereter its going to spin.

The rims i have on it are weld prostars 15x7's in the front a little wide for the strip i know but it is a street car with front and rear sway bars and 15x8's in the rear but i was thinking about getting some of those MT street slicks for the occasional 3 or 4 times to the track a year.
