I talked to DC today, since the dealers get allocation info supposedly, today, and my order is in "BG" status, but my favorite option/non option is on restriction, they said. They didn't know or at least say what the reason was, but evidently the 5 spd model isn't able to be scheduled at the moment.

Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated...

I guess I need to tell my wife, since its her car.

On restriction means it's not available or availability is limited. If your a bigwig you might get it but otherwise you don't. Usually, this means whatever the option is you want is basically on backorder. Like when the Viper first came out the hood supplier had problems and that limited the number of Vipers they could built. In your case you are talking about a 5 speed, maybe the supplier can't provide enough, or it's in a redesign phase or something. there is a timeframe usually listed, but it's just an expected lifting not a guarantee that it'll be available.

To my pleasant amazement, after telling her the 5 spd is on restriction, holding up the order, the wife replied that she WANTS a 5 spd for the performance. http://www.moparchat.com/ubb/smile.gif

I pray they are just in short supply because people like them, with the stock chrome stick and white cue ball knob...

The big demand is for the A/T trans. As you know from my other post we just got a few of these.Ours are ordered with A/T for obvious reasons. There were not very many Neons with 5-spd's,so there may not be very many transmissions in stock.Keep inquiring about your car/truck though.
