From what I understand from the Chicago Auto show, the GT Cruiser is supposed to be a few months behind the PT Cruiser. I probably would wait and buy that except I saw the Panel Cruiser concept vehicle they had at the show. This is exactly what I want. Does anyone know for sure if this version is going to be produced? I am going to wait until I know for sure if the Panel version will ever be built...

I read a post from a guy that was working on the Turbo for DC who said it was at least a year off.

Based on the initial demand for the "vehicle", I'd say it will be that long for them to recover from the initial onslaught of orders, anyway.

Its as big as a mini-van inside, gets 26 city, 32 highway, does 0-60 in under 9 sec with 5 spd and is priced aggressively. There isn't any other decked out $20k wagon/suv that stands up to comparison.

And its cool looking to boot. My wife and daughter went Ga-Ga over it...

BTW, there are places tooling up to make removable panels that cover the windows from what I heard...

That's interesting... Before I knew about the Panel Cruiser I was planning to make my own side panels. Just goes to show that the demand for a panel truck seems to be there. Especially with a turbo.

tlockwood,From the last time I went on the Chrysler concepts page, I read that the Panel Cruiser is only going to have the base engine that is in the PT Cruiser and not have the turbo, and only the GT Cruiser is going to have the turbo.

The Panel Cruiser at the Auto Show in Chicago was decked out in "GT" trim with the smooth bumpers, and such, and the sign next to it claimed it was a 200hp turbo. It was easily the baddest looking vehicle at the show, and I hope DC is not actually stupid enough to back the performance back out of it. I have to believe that it will be available in turbo trim if it is available at all...

My mistake, after I read your reply I went back to Chrysler's concepts page, and read that is was supposed to have the turbo. And does anyone know when the GT Cruiser is supposed to come out, and what colors/trims will be available, because my dad really wants one.
