Here's what could very well be the first PT Cruiser accident on record. It was lifted from another Cruiser forum, http://ptenthusiasts.org/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Headlines&BID=3&SID=1730
Imagine, you've waiting for months, your Cruiser arrives, and five days later you're rear-ended. I wouldn't even wish this on Speedwobble and Six Pack. (Although they'd have plenty of replacement parts.)

I was stopped at a red light for about 10 seconds when a LOSER driving a Chevrolet Astro Van decided to apply his brakes a little to late and plowed into the rear of my Cruiser doing about 10mph upon impact. I started screaming every swear in the slang dictionary, then jumped out of my Cruiser in rage progressing towards the other driver. The man knowing my rage wisely rolled up his windows and locked his doors until I cooled down. His excuse for hitting my car was that he was paying more attention to the hot girls in the car next to him than on the road (who can blame him, but don't pull that kind of stunt when you know you have a very nice Cruiser in front of you!). Anyway we exchanged paperwork and he left. I examined my PT thoroughly and to my amaze my car didn't even have a scratch on the bumper, just a little smudged paint from his bumper. Just to let you know this was no small fender bender I was hit around 10 mph and my PT plunged forward about 8 feet upon impact. I totally thought that his truck crunched the rear of my car including the liftgate and bumper. Nonetheless my PT is going to be appraised for damage on Thursday and I will be demanding a new bumper regardless if their is no visible damage to my current one. Just a reminder to all you future and current PT owners the rear bumper on the PT's are solid as steel and if they can withstand the hit that I went through today with little or no damage a little tap on the bumper at your local grocery is nothing to lose sleep over. Also just to let everyone know the rear gray bumper is a ONE PIECE UNIT with the painted body parts around the bumper, I thought is was two pieces because of the color difference, and that may have made all the difference in my lack of damage. By the way is there a PT damage hotline you can call to get someone to kick the A*S out of people who carelessly damage PT Cruisers? If so leave the number in this post and I will be contacting them shortly. For the record I only had my PT for 5 days when it was hit and it only had 300 miles.
Hope this never happens to you,
Steven
