Question

So, I've more or less narrowed my search down to the Lanzar Opti and PPI (Precision Power) Powerclass amplifiers.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about these or want to champion another amplifier?

Reference point for power:

Focal 165K2's in the front door
Focal 165HC's in the rear doors
JLAudio Stealthbox with 12W3 sub in the middle

Thanks

Thumbs up

I have owned Lanzar amps in the past and have nothing but good things to say about them. They were older models before they came out with the Opti but I was happy with both amps I had. As far as Precision Power goes, they are very good as well but more pricey. Either way, I think you'll be happy with wihichever you chose. I am currently running two Rockford Fosgate Amps and am happy with them as well. See my sig line for more info.

Wink PPI? Lanzar?

Not a chance bud. You have some quality speakers there, don't short change em with those amps. There are only two ways to go in my mind. Zapco or Phoenix Gold. This is coming from someone who competed in the IASCA finals and holds 12 first place trophies with 6 Zapco amps and 16 Boston acoustics speakers. I wasn't the loudest with only 2 12's driven with 600 watts each, but I had one of the cleanest sounding rides in the staging lanes. I have owned PPI in the past and never found them to be as clean as I wanted or the highest in SPL. If those are the only 2 choices your willing to look at I would chance the Lanzars. Good luck either way.

You may also want to look into US Acoustics. They make great power, and have ultra low thd (total harmonic distortion) which is a very good thing. Even if you have the best speakers in the world that'll handle tons of power, they can blow from large amounts of distortion in the amp signal.

Crutchfield sells US Acoustics amps. www.crutchfield.com

Cool pheonix gold

I personally would go with a zx 350 from pheonix gold you could run your entire system off it + never have problems if you use passive crossovers on your front end + a coil on your subs.
