Default Kenwood Speakers??

I want to replace my factory speakers, but don' t want to spen a fortune doing it. Kenwood has some nice looking ones for about $50 a pair.

Anyone have any experience with these?

I install them all the time. They are a good entry level speaker.

My advice to you is let your ears do the talkin. Go somewhere with one of your fav CD's and listen to them. Try other ones too. No matter what someones else might say, what sounds good to them may not sound good to you.

Thanks for the reply. The way I see it, any aftermarket speaker is going to blow away the stock paper one's.

If you know of alternate brands in the same price range, I'd love to hear your opinion of them!

Well you can check around for people getting rid of the "old" EX2 models from polk. EX3 series is replacing them and everyone getting rid of old models.

That price range is a hard one to fit in. Most in that price range are slightly better then the factory. But......Sony, JBL and pioneer offer some for around that.

What are you going to put them in?

ok are you wanting to change all four or just the front or rear?

If I were you I wouldn't even worrie about the rears. I don't even have mine hooked up. They are so low in the panel and they are a Biatch to change with out making stress marks in the panels. I would put all your dough towards the fronts.

The fronts are 6x9's(if you don't already know) and pretty much everything will fit except the Polk EX692 and EX693a. The magnet is to deep and hits the window and the tweeter/midrange stick up to far and makes you door panel bow out big time.

I have nothing against Crutchfield but I wouldn't look for bargins from them(unless its really lowest prices). You can go to a local store and prolly find it either the same or less. After you pay for shipping, the waiting, its not worth it. BEsides you can listen before you buy locally, with crutch and if you have a problem, you gotta ship it back, blah blah.

If you need help knowing how to take something apart let me know I can help and so can other people on the site.

Thanks alot for the advice.

I was planning on replacing all four, but now you have given me doubts... Are the rears really that big a pain? It seems like the sound would be off w/o all four.

Thanks again.

nah, not in a regular cab ram. Your not really hearing the rears terribly clearly anyway. In my truck ou can even tell they are not playing.

The rears are not bad unless you have a torques bit big enough for the seat belt(most people dont). If you don't then you gotta try bending the panel and that will cause little white stress marks on the plastic.

You could spend the money and the time on all four but you could put that money towards the fronts and be alot happier.

OK, I did a personal preference test. I agree that w/o the rears, the difference is minimal. But I do notice a decrease in bass and overall depth, so I will replace all four.

And if I don't have a Torx big enough, I'll buy one.

Thanks again for the help!

6x9's are only in the front. 6 1/2" are in the back.

OPPPS, I read it wrong, Yes the infinitys would fit in the doors.
