Default New kicker comp. subs

How are they I haven't heard them yet, but I know that kicker subs are usally awesome and this store has a sale on them so I'm thinking of picking up two 12"s or would 10"s be better?

Also I asked about getting a box build cause I know that a good box makes good subs even better and I told him that I wanted one big truck box instead of two seperate boxes because I though it would be better (sound wise) and he said that he would recomend putting a piece of mdf to seperate the subs on the inside of the box so it would be just like having two seperate boxes, I thought one big open in the inside box would be best?

Default Kicker Comp's

I sell those at my shop they don't sound bad and price is really good.

10"- $79.95
12"- $89.95 regular price.

If your looking for a custom box have them build it with a seperator in the center.

Default which to go with

should i go with the 10s or the 12s?

Also I have an old PPI amp that is a four channel (60X4) if I bridge it like I have it now I know that it is at lest 120RMS X 2 which isn't to bad for my kenwoods but will it be enough for the kickers?

By putting the seperator in the box, they only advantage would by to provide bracing. I guess another advantage would be that if you sub blows, having seperate chambers would protect the good sub.

Kicker subs are pretty good. I don't have anything against them.

2 10s would be good enough and require less space.

Default seperator

to add to what dnewma04 said:

With the amp you are going to run,the box must be seperated. You should also use a meter to dial in your gains for equal output to each sub.If you don't it can affect the total output and sound quality.

Default enough power? and differents subs

Will that PPI be enough for those two 12" kickers or should I get a different amp. I don't have alot of cash so do you think that I could get by with the PPI.

Also, Coop, what do you think about this deal (in CDN dollars)

reg price for subs is $200 piece X 2 = $400 reg + $150 custom box with center amp rack = total $550 + taxes = $621.50 ($404us)

I can get everything for $400 cdn taxes paid ($260us)

Is this a good enough deal or should the guy go lower I had to work on him to get this price. He says that the only reason he is giving me this deal is because I've bought alot of stuff from him, but I know better that he wouldn't sell it if he wasn't making money.

*I could also get Alpine 12" S types subs for the same price instead of the kickers because I just found out that there is two different types of kicker comps. the normal comps, which would be the ones I'm getting (150RMS) and the VRs (400RMS), which are the ones I thought I was getting. which should I go for the kicker comps or the Alpine S types.

Sorry for all of the questions.

Default The PPI

will do just fine, but make sure they put it on a meter to set the level for each speaker evenly.

$260.00us would get you a premade box (without a amp rack)and the 2 Kicker Comp's at reg. price.I would go for it if it's a "custom" box for sure.If they are installing the amp as well it's even a better deal.

Honestly I've not heard the Alpine's so I cann't be a good judge of there performance.

Good luck.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.....

Default Thanks

I know I'm going to get the custom box and two 12's but I haven't decided between the kickers and the alpines, but I"m leaning to the alpines.

I haven't heard the Alpines either, but from what I've read, I'd go Kicker. I've been thinking serious about getting the Kicker L7's.
Good Luck either way!

Red face back in the middle again

I don't know now. I think that kicker just seem like more of a "Sub Company" to me than Alpine. They are the exact same price and the alpines are 50 Watts more RMS, but I know you can't really go by that. (neither of the subs are rated vary high: Kicker=150RMS ?peak Alpine=200RMS 600peak.

Default I heard the alpines today

I was at a store today and I asked the guy to play two alpine type-s subs, he only had the tens hooked up. They sounded good, but it seems like they could have handled alot more power than what he was giving them. They sure moved alot for the amount of sound they made. I think the kickers were much louder when I heard them but it could have been the amp too. One thing I like about the alpines is that they have rubber surround, do the kickers have rubber or foam?
