Question

I want to replace the rear 6x9's in my '99 Intrepid. Is there some trick to removing the rear deck. Seems a little more complicated than in the old body style model.

Any help appreciated.

I am not familar with the mounting of those in that car but are the speakers mounted from the bottom of the shelf in the truck? Many car companys do it that way. Most have some sort of bracket that holds the speakers in place.

Max35..if you can give me any tips on whatever you're doing to your '99 Intrepid, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a '99 ES, and I'm always open to ideas about improving stuff on it.

By the way, and I apologize for asking this in the wrong forum but not many people here have '98+ Intrepids, do you have any idea how to get the engine computer codes?

I'm not sure how to get the codes. My first upgrade was the stereo. I replaced it with a Sony C5000X head unit and 4 channel 160W amp. I mounted the amp on the panel behind the back seats. I replaced the rear speakers with Sony 6x9's and the front door speakers with Jensen 6 1/2" triaxle speakers with the sviwel tweeters. I also have a 10" subwoofer in the trunk (this is where the huge trunks come in handy) I would have to say this is a 500% improvement over the stock system. I may put in a larger amp in the future, but compared to what it sounded like before, I am very pleased. The huge interior of these cars make for great listening.

Cheers,
