I'm not looking to win any bass competitions, I just want enough power to sound good but not so much that I can't hear anything else around me on the road. I have a 1974 Duster. Does anyone know what combination of speakers and subwoofers I should use. I was thinking probably two 12's as the woofers with 6x9s as mids and probably 1" squares as my highs. Also curious about what brand I should use. Who has the best quality speakers that aren't so expensive. How does that sound?

KW,
Kicker makes a Impulse 12" sub that sells for about $100.00 ea.that are really nice for the money. I would suggest you use a 6x9 that has mids and tweeters built in if your looking to stay on a budget. There are alot of good 6x9's out there for $100.00 or less a pair. |

Pioneer subs put out very good deep bass for a small price tag. I agree with coop, go with a good 3-way 6x9 in the rear deck and put some 5-1/4's in the front doors. Setup the 6x9's and the 5-1/4's and see how you like it. If you need more bass, you can always add on.
When I was in high school and shortly after, I used Pioneer speakers all the time. Very good all around sound quality and a cheap price tag to boot. My .02 ------------------ 95 1500 4x4 360 Performance Mods, MP computer, Gibson-Headers, Cat Back Exhaust, Jacobs Ignition, 180 T-Stat, Gen II K&N, Car Sound Hi-Flow Cat, Underdrive Pulleys, Holley 52mm TB Future -- Roller Rockers, Cam, 4.10 Gears, Lift?????? Oh-God make it stop |
