I'm very pleased with Pioneer, but RF, CV, Alpine, Kenwood, and JL Audio are all good names.. I don't trust Sony with car audio. buy from eBay!! you won't be sorry.

every once and awhile a really good deal comes along. you have to look at the pictures, the description, the seller's feedback rating.. have to ask the seller questions. of course you wouldn't buy from someone with little or no or negative feedback who doesn't describe and who has no picture of the item. i got two like new 10" pioneer 350W subs on ebay for $30.

well I went with the Kicker CompVR 12" in a sealed box

all I can say is D@#M
I was used to my 10s
with the same set up--amp,signal,amp settings
they blow the MTXs out of the water so bad it is no comparison
It has been a long time since I have been in a vehicle that can distort your voice
my HU will go up to 35 without clipping
I have yet to have these over 25--that is about my limit for sanity
I have to get it somewhere to check out the DBs on it

to. Volare360.

Your list started with the best 12" woofers around. Go for Kickers Comp (by the way, they are owned by the same people that owns Rockford Fosgate). I have had four pairs and never had any problem. One thing about them is enclosure. Make sure your box has all the space they'll need and it has to be solid. I never had to remake any box until my forst pair of kickers. Once you have the right enclosure and the right power going to them, people from the next town will hear you, better yet, will feel you come home!!!!

well I did go with the Kicker CompVRs

the box was made by the place I got them and it is done right
they pound so much I have to worry about hurting myself now

at the shop I got them at
when I was in the install bay my buddy was in their showroom
they hooked up a pair of 12" Cerwin Vega Vegas in ported box first--they were just too much
then they hooked up the Kickers-pair 12"-sealed box
he know when they hooked them up
the salesman he had with him--accually the pres of the shop
said something to the effect of just plain stupid bass(and I almost agree with him)
there are 2 steel doors between them and they knew it was hitting

I have to turn the bass down to save my ears
even with the sunroof and windows open it hurts
next process is redoing some of the wiring and then my front soundstage

I am making kick panel enclosures--5 1/4 with tweet in there
and then decide on something for the door--either 6 3/4 mid bassers or just a pair of 8" subs
I need to start playing with fiberglass now

Volare360,

It sounds like you have all the low's you need. I would reserved those doors for mid's, maybe a set of 6" and two tweeters, one 1.5" cone and one 1" ceramic or glass (Altec Lansin makes both). I don't know about you but I like to hear every note in my music.

Well its to late for my 2 cents but I am going to say them anyway. I would go with lightning audio storm series. I have four 10" Storm DVC's 2 12" DVC's and one 15" DVC you wanna talk about hitting here is your recipie. For my doors I use infinitis they have awsome speaker for the doors. Like I said its too late for my response pluse you might like to keep your windows.. I blew mine out like 4times by accidents

This is a little late but congrats on your kicker's, they would have been what I would have recommended for the price. Now to the misinformation posted earlier Kicker is not owned by Rockford Fosgate, Kicker is owned by Stillwater Designs out of Stillwater, OK. While Rockford Fosgate is owned by Rockford Fosgate in Tempe, AZ. Rockford Fosgate owns Lightning Audio.

well I am VERY satisfied with the kickers
my buddy is getting a pair of 8" compVRs put into his 99 dak ext cab this week-they are going into the rear speaker placement
he picks it up friday

now for my front sound stage??
HU-alpine mentioned
amps-soundstream references
604-75X4 @ 12V
405-25X4 + 100X1 5channel(the sub channel doesnt quite have the kick I want

my idea is to make a pair of kick panel enclosures-
5 1/4 plus tweet
in the doors
6 3/4 midbassers plus possible tweets if I need them(have to see how it sounds, then try the tweets ect)
8" in a small sealed box in the rear deck-for the kick
12" subs-my kickers for the BOOM

405 running the kicks-bridged to 50X2
604 running the doors-75X2--they are off axis and bigger
405 5th channel running rear spkrs-8"
604 running the subs

any comments
what speakers
all amp ratings are in RMS at 4ohms and 12V

I am building something for quality
I have sunk a fair but of cash on the equipment I got so I am not afraid to pay for quality
it just may take awhile to buy it
I am looking at an audiocontrol 6XS
I am currently working on getting the wiring upgraded to handle anything I want to do to it
it is taking time but I am getting there
