Default HELP!!! Car radio installers

Hey guys,

I just bought a 96 Ram w/ the infinity stereo system. I bought a Pioneer Premier DEH-550mp. After i hooked the new unit up, I barley have any sound to the rear speakers. I hooked a speaker directly to the rear of the unit and plenty of sound. Any suggestion.

Thanks

Do you have sound to the front speakers?
I know if you don't hook up the power ant. wire on the factory plug the front speakers wont play because they have little amps on the back of them. I'm not sure about the rear ones though.

I installed a pioneer head unit in my infinity equipped '91 shadow, if the systems are still the same there is an amp mounted on your rear speakers...i had the same problem. Assuming they are the same, when you take out your rear speaker there will be a harness connecting the speaker wires to the speaker/amp. What i did was remove the infinity speaker, cut the harness off the old speaker and wired it to an aftermarket speaker (i like the ability to go back to a stock setup, hey, i might restore it right?). The harness has like 4 or five wires coming out of it, there will be two sets of two wires that split (one going to the speaker and one to the amp). Chose one of these wires from each pair and wire them to the aftermarket speaker posts. You'll have a few extra wires but it is no big deal just cut them off. Hopefully, Ma Mopar hasen't changed theire design.

It was the power antenna wire from the new head unit. i guess it will turn on power to the rear speakers.

Default Aftermarket Head Unit with Infinity System

I just hooked up a new Apline head unit to my 2000 Dakota. I didnt have any problems with the subs or speakers while using the tuner. When I tried out the CD player, I had NO sound comming from the speakers, but the subs were still working. I did a search on DodgeDakotas.com and came up with a thread that said I had to run the remote power wire from the head unit to the factory Infinity amp. I tapped into the blue w/white stripe wire and it did not work. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Default stuarth

Hook the blue remote wire to the factory Infinity amp and the sub amp.

The Blue/Wht wire will shut off when the Cd player is used. It's purpose is the bring a power antenna down when it's not being used.

Default coup is right!

That is one of the most common and perplexing problems for new to stereo wiring people, glad someone already got the answer up here, as I'm sure there are more people out there scratching their head.
