Default Is an ampifier needed?

I'm installing a late model Mopar AM/FM/Cassette/CD in my custom '73 Adventurer Sport. Since I'm not a fan of loud music and usually listen only to AM radio or ancient tapes, is it worth my while to install an amplifier?

It depends. If you're also installing some good speakers that come with a crossover, then yes. Also, if you plan on adding a sub to take some of the bass out of the other speakers, then yes. Otherwise, the upgraded head unit will put out enough power to distort your stock speakers.

It's out of my '03 Grand Caravan. I installed a Mopar GPS, so I decided to put the removed unit in my truck. This particular model can play only one CD, but they made units with a control panel for a CD player. My wife had one of those in her '99 300M. I know the GPS unit was made by Alpine, but I'm not sure who made the one I removed.

I installed a AM/FM/Cassette from a 2000 Neon in my '64 Valiant and it sounds fine without an amplifier, but that model did not come with an amp from the factory and the convertible is too noisy to appreciate a good sound system.

I'm not at all worried about speaker distortion and the last thing I would do is install a sub. The speakers were $50 a pair AudioVox, so they are not "good" speakers.

I guess I'll just try it and if there is a problem, I'll get a stock Mopar amp for a few bucks on e-bay.

Thanks for filling me in mate, sounds good.
Does it have any logos on the headunit? Like MOPAR or something because that would look pretty cool

It has a small, white pentastar.

Just remember, no matter how cheap aftermarket speakers are, they're still better than anything that comes from the dealer. All the "premium" speakers you can buy still have paper cones!
