Default Ram Van 3500 CD player

So I'd like to put a CD player in my 01 MaxiVan. It appears that factory take outs can be had reasonably on Ebay and such. How would I find out the PN needed for my application?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
David

I would imagine a dealer could furnish that number, although there may have several models/combos of players that year. You would need to decide exactly what you wanted.

That dealer may also tell you which years the unit will fit. If his price is too high or if he can't get them anymore, look on eBay for one pulled out of the appropriate vehicle.

I would bet that the same unit(s) was/were used in other vehicles besides the van.

An alternative is check Crutchfield's catalog. They will list what CD player chassis is particular to that vehicle. Say it is a number "7." You can check what other Mopars take that same number. Then, you can come up with your own list of what OEM units will fit your dash.

Note: Many of the "top-end" Chrysler sound systems have anti-theft computers for the vehicles built-in. You may have to have your radio "flashed" with your VIN number for it to work properly. My '04 Dakota sound system got "stupid" when my battery shorted out. Took 30 seconds to fix, but it had to be done.(Dealer did it free, too).

Thank you for your reply. The audio system is indeed top of the line. Not sure what you mean by flashing the vin # or how that is done. I did pull the fuse and guess that would be the same as disconnecting the battery or having a short. I will call the dealership and see what they have to say. Thanks again for the info. Ron

Ron, they plug the "diaganosic computer" into the plug under the dash, press a button and it will work. The Infinity Audio systems usually have the anti-theft device for the vehcile inside them and to prevent people from stealing the audio systems they get "dumb". Mercedes and Lexus actually burn-up cuircuts inside their audio systems so they are worthless if stolen.

Hey, thank you again for your response. I will call the dealer Monday and see when I can get it in. My system is the Infiniti. Ron
