Default Speakers

Where can I find speakers that will work with my stock 73 AM/FM in dash radio for my Charger? The ones I have (a front center speaker and a rear speaker) are blown out. I want a set that will work with the existing radio. Nothing radical.

Default Many speakers

Can be found at Best Buy, Crutchfield etc. Bring the old ones to the store, or measure them for online purchase to get the correct ones.

Didn't know what type of wattage the old radio put out and if its enough for aftermarket speakers. Anyone know? Or if that is even important?

Default Probably

Ten watts to twenty watts. Just get eight ohm speakers and they'll work well.

Seems every thing I see in aftermarket speakers says 4 ohms. Sorry to be so dopey about this, but does that mean 8 ohms for the two of them?

It depends, if you start out with 4 ohm speakers, you wire them in series (in a row!) you'll have 8 ohms resistance. If you wire them parallel, you'll have 2 ohms resistance. And I've reached the limit of my stereo experience, so I'm moving this thread up to Car Audio forum so some more stereo and wiring guys can get involved!

4 Ohm speakers are usually found in car audio systems, 8 Ohms are usually for home stereos, etc. With the low amount of power your stock radio is pushing out, it doesnt really matter which you get. The only thing you really need to worry about is that the new ones are the correct size and have brackets that will line up with the mounting points.

You can wire them in series.
4-6 ohm is car audio.
