NEW AMP!! was it worth it?

OK I also have this thread in the RAM Truck Forum:

I bought an amp off ebay last week. It's an MTX Thunder 280 VFET N-Channel amp. I think it is one of the older ones that are supposed to be superior to the newer ones because when MTX when big they messed up their quality for production volume. I paid 132 bux with shipping for it and the owners manual says its 40x2 at 4 ohms but its 2 ohm MONO stable and puts out 160x2RMS at 2 ohms mono..
Oh yeah and there isnt a scratch on it.

Yes I have the same amp, along with a 2160. Those old MTX amps are built like tanks. Those amps are known for putting out a lot more power than they were rated at. If it works propperly, i'd say it was $130 well spent.

Are you sure you are reading the power specks correctly?

160 RMS x2 MONO is not MONO(x1) it's x2.The amp I have is 2 Ohm Stereo stable 80x2 RMS 160x2 MAX.

Either way it's a good amp I'd just be sure you double check your specks before you hook it up.

New it retailed for $199.95 in 1996/97.
