Question

Can I just swap out the stock amp on my '99 Intrepid? The amp is located in the kick pannel, so it's not the Infinity system. I think it still is a six channel amp. Where does Chrysler get these? I've never seen a six channel amp on the aftermarket, let alone a 9 channel one for the top Infinity. Any suggestions or comments?

This is going to be sorta tricky to do iwth the stock HU. Best bet is to upgrade the HU first. Now for the amp, Esoteric makes a 6 channel amp but it doesnt come with a pretty price. It is possible to run your whole system off the aftermaket hu(xcept sub).

Is the amp blown?

Your going to have to replace your whole system just for going with a new amp.

I dont think you have to replace the HU. You should be able to hook up an aftermarket amp to any deck. Most likely (I have not checked in mine yet) but the stock HU does not have RCA pre amp outputs but are line connected (speaker wire). Just get a $10 line to RCA conversion and hook up any amp to it. Sound won't be competition quality, but it gets the job done and you get to keep the stock looking radio. Your best bet will probably be to get 2-3 amps to run your system. One for front, back, and subs if you add those at any time.
