Default Unique Welding Challenge

I have a 360 block that was damaged by the previous owner. It is a 0.010" oversize block to meet the Wissota rules for a Spec engine in the modified class. The block was dropped and broke a portion of the front webbing and the deck on number 1. The owner used a chemical weld and patched it back together. It has lasted several years that way and has around 60 shows on it.

My plan is to drill out the chemical weld and make for lack of a better description a rivet to hold the two parts together. I will compress the molten material like a rivet to keep from cracking the adjacent material as the weld cools.

I plan to practice on the webbing before trying to tackle the deck. Wish me luck.

I wish I had a picuture of my neighbor's Hudson engine that had a freeze crack about 18" long... it was repaired in the distant past with about 60 machine screws and a copper plate screwed to the side of the bloock and sealed with #2 Permatex.... never leaked a drop!

Good luck 340...I'm sure you can do it.

I have tried to upload photos and it doesn't seem to work. I reduced the size of them so I don't think that is the issue.
