I've been told that shorter cab bolts would remedy this problem. What are they and can a novice mechanic replace them?

I had a popping noise when turning in incline driveways, especially when making a sharp incline turn. The sound was loud sometimes, could be heard over my stereo with volume completely up. It ended up being the cab isolators, the dealer fixed it. Just my .02
