Default Strange noise from '03 Dak 4 x 4 front end.

All- just drove my Dak about 255 miles down to the beach as a chase vehicle for the grandson. It's an '03 4x4, ext cab with 3.7 V6 with just 72K on it. No issues going down but one day while sight seeing, we pulled out of parking garage and the front end sounded almost like brakes grinding without touching brakes. I had been forced to make several lock to lock turns to get out of the parking garage. When I made three right hand turns is when it happened. Then no more noise. We found nothing loose and no visible cause.
No noise on return trip for about half distance then off/on until I slowed to about 60. So what do you think it is, wheel bearings or what?
Rick.

Wheel bearings either make noise or they don't. It's not a noise that is going to go away.

I would say that it's either a rock or something that got kicked up in there, or rust build up. As you turn everything flexes a bit and you can get a scraping or rubbing noise that will come and go. If the noise is gone I wouldn't get too concerned.

Well the cv joint boots all look great, but we know that's not always proof there's a problem.
We thought a rock in something as well but never found any thing.
Maybe I need to grease it all?! It took me driving for some time to make it all happen, hence why we thought wheel bearings.
Any other ideas?
THANKS to ALL that reply!!
Rick.

I think I would check the wheel bearings. They might be starting to run dry. Usually, wheel bearings are either bad or good, but maybe when just starting to run dry it might be intermittent.

lift the front end off the ground and try to rock the wheels by hand. Sounds like hub bearing assembly to me. If bad you should get some movement.
