Stumbled on a deal of an old la 360 carbureted in my '96 Dakota two-wheel drive was wondering what exactly I all have to worry about? Is there much modifying going into it? from what I've understood most of the motor mounts line up other than one with a little bit of modifying. Don't know if there's anything else that I'm overlooking? That and I was wondering of what size transmission they run I believe I keep finding out that it was a 727 (automatic) but I don't know if I should get a three-speed or one with overdrive?

5 months later....
Tom, the 360 Carb'e has an external balance converter or flywheel. Is the engine in your 96 Dak a 5.2? Auto? If 5.2 Auto, it is internal balanced so to use the 360 you would need to add the weight to your torque converter or use the special aftermarket 360 flex weight.
