off road diesel
would it hurt anything to run the offroad diesel in an 07 5.9?? i know we use to run it in the older 5.9s, usually mix it half and half, any harm come from this in running it in an 07?? i know it will make more black smoke, but to me that's kinda an added bonus... btw this is for running off road around the private roads on the farm

It's good
Same as on-road, but carries a red dye for identification. If you are inspected by a law enforcement agency, and the red dye residue is found in your fuel system, you pay a fine so big, it couldn't be recovered by the lower fuel cost. The higher on-road cost is all taxes, and that is why they watch for cheaters.

Low sulphur
Is only a fuel with less sulphuric lubricant. I am not aware of off road fuel being low sulphur, but it might be, according to where you live. High sulphur will not hurt your engine. If it is low sulphur, then definitely use a fuel treatment for lubricity, like Power Service or other popular brands.

i imagine being it's for off road use only it would be high sulfur and that's what i was wondering about because i think its 07 that uses low sulfur could be wrong, but as long as it don't harm anything it's all good... once you run the dyed diesel how much regular fuel would i have to run to get all the dye out the system??

I have heard
That the dye is never fully flushed away.

The only difference is the Red dye that indicates that no taxes have been paid on the fuel and is for "off road" use only (tractors, graders, heavy equipment, etc.) The LSD sulpher content is the same 500ppm as the on road stuff, and the ULSD is the same 15ppm as the on road ULSD.....Usually DOT only spot checks Big Rigs for "Red" because they have usually close to a couple hundred gallons in their tanks when they stop them, a couple hundred gallons of none taxed fuel saves the trucker big money and if he doesnt get caught alot think its worth the risk in the long run, but when they do get caught they usually dont make the same mistake again after paying the fine. 5.9's will run either just fine, its the 6.7L that has to have the 15ppm ULSD because of the DPF and EGR system.

so it's good to go with either on a newer 5.9?? thought 07 and up needed the low sulfur, at least that's what it says on all the diesel pumps and all.. i just don't want to screw my farm use only truck up...

Yea, 2007 was when all the emissions laden trucks hit the road which have to have the ULSD 15 ppm fuel, but the 5.9L doesnt have any of that stuff on it, So your good to go, just dont get caught out on the highway with it in there LOL
