it may help with some economy and power. but the later ons sounds like crap compared to a 2002 and older.i would recomend some type of free flowing muffler. that way it would help with spooling up the turbo. sometime a staight pipe on a turbo may cause not as much turbo boost. turbos like a little back preasure.

Dunno about all of them, but there was a thread on the Challenger forums about changing mufflers and straight pipes. Almost any change to the factory set up, except headers, resulted in a power loss. Even flowmasters dropped the power on em.

If you like the sound of a sick UPS truck, you'll like a straight pipe. Mileage will go up very little, but the noise is awful. Been there, done that.

Default Try these guys

Genosgarage.com. If they don't offer any, dial up Jardine on google. Actually, any local muffler shop should be able to get you one.

most report a drone in the exhaust.
Why do you want to change it? If for sound, ok. If for power/mileage, don't expect a gain. The turbo is the biggest restriction in exhaust air flow.
Stock exhaust is good for at least 500 hp.

Mbrp makes muffler and cat delete pipes for your truck I have them both on my truck, my truck is very very loud when in the throtle the bigger the load the worse it is, 70 mph and up hard to here the radio no real mpg gain with exhaust alone check out pure diesel performance for the delete pipes and other options

If you want increased fuel economy, look at the AeroTurbine 4040XL. Its design will give the exhaust a throaty sound, but not mind numbingly loud. It will give a little increased MPG. It will also up your HP and torque numbers as it will allow the turbo to spool faster. It will also lower your EGTs.

Do a simple Google search for AeroTurbine 4040XL.

The muffler alone is about $175. As it is not the same fit as the original muffler, you will need an adapter pipe. A muffler shop can take care of that or you can go to DPP and get the muffler, clamps, and adapter pipe for $280 (yeah, they actually think that the clamps and pipe are worth $105).

If you search around, I'm sure that someone like Black Cloud Diesel can get you the same kit for a better price.

Here is a better price - Parleys Diesel $174 for the Muffler and $65 for the pipe

Probably because there are other things in it that are not stock. Odds are the cat is gone and it is most likely running a performance computer.

Larger injectors and a performance computer will below out black smoke. I know when I up the low boost fueling, mine starts smoking like a chimney.
