mpc eliminator

The MPC Eliminator Pipe is a silver-coated steel pipe that goes between the air cleaner box and the turbocharger inlet. This pipe eliminates the factory plastic pipe that has silencer-type vanes incorporated in its design. With the MPC Eliminator Pipe installed you can expect a change in air induction noise as the turbo goes about its job of making power. does this gain power, fuel mileage? or just make the turbo louder?? instead of buying this for a whole ridiculous price of 50 bucks for a piece of metal that probably didn't cost 5bucks to make think i could take my stock piece and cut the baffles out? or get a piece of poly or pvc pipe and fab something myself?? i can always go for makin the turbo louder, i love the sound of that turbo spinning up, and if i did that i could keep my foot out of it less to hear it... |

The vanes aren't really to silence the turbo sound. The keep air from spiraling into the turbo inlet. If the air spirals, it decrease the performance of the turbo, as it cannot suck in as much air.

so by adding this it will make you get less power?? so wtf is the point in having it??

It will make a little more noise, at the sacrifice of a little power.
While I like the sound of the turbo, I prefer that sound to come out of the tailpipe. That's where everyone else hears it. A friend of mine once told me that he knew that I was about to bolt, as he heard the turbo spooling through the exhaust. |
