Valve spring application for 296/557 cam in big block
I am putting a 296/557 solid lift cam in my 440 in my truck for drag racing and I was wondering if any body would know the proper springs to match up with it.I have comp cams springs right now that have around 110 closed pressure not sure what the open pressure is.

I use Comp spring Comp 928 Seat load: 160@1.880", Open load: 383@1.250" for Comp Solid lift LIFT WITH 1.5 RR INTAKE 580 EXHAUST 570
DURATION @50 INTAKE 268 EXHAUST 278. The cam is custom grind to the spring and aluminum heads. This is close to your cam profile. Comp 928 would be the highest I would use. Your 110 may be a little weak. Were they for Hydraulic lifter cam? |
