Default 98 4x4 durango tranny prob?

it wants to kick down into the passing gear,when your in between gears. does it more on the on ramps.

I want a better description, to help you.
If you are saying it acts like it is going to neutral, then I would suggest a fluid and filter change/ Make sure they change the filter! Don't let then do a flush.

check the fluid level/ in neutral engine at operating temp. top off if needed. need beter decription as stated

Default 98 tranny prob

it's weird, say your getting on the freeway and it has shifted from 1,2nd & 3rd and your not in the gas but not coasting,and then all the sudden it kicks into the passing gear? almost like it has a bad vacuum modulator,(but it don't).maybe it could be a throttlte position sensor?

It's been known to cause those sorts of issues... If you can, check it with a scan tool that has live data, otherwise do it the old fashioned way by back probing the sensor
