Exclamation Well I did it...proud new owner...

Well Im the proud new(broke) owner of a 2001 Durango R/T 4x4. I traded in my LS1 T/A...almost cried but it had problems that were gunna cost quite a bit to fix and when it comes to a perfomance car Im never satisfied anyway so I figured Id get something more practical(?). Its really nice and I like it, its just alot different! But Dodge likes to be different! Guess I need to change the sig now.

Ron: thanks!

Kevin and Firebat: Yeah, I ended up getting the black one, I kinda wish it had the towing package like we were discussing but like I said I'll piece it together as time and money allow. I was'nt gunna drive it back and forth to work but Ive driven it everyday so far lol. Surprisingly it seems to get pretty decent mileage, though I havent actually calculated it.

Do you guys know on the knob where you choose AWD, 4X4 HI, or 4X4 LOW what the "N" is for in the bottom left hand corner? It appears to have a light just like the other choices but I cant turn my knob to it. I was assuming it was Neutral and that would make it just a RWD and not send any power to the front wheels, but since I cant turn the knob there I guess its not that

The "N" is for neutral if you are pulling it behind a camper or something. it frees the trany. =) I get about 12.7 MPG with mine. LOL Sometimes 13.5

OHhhhhh! That makes sense. How the hell do you get it in there though? I was idling in drive when I was playing around with it. Do you need the key off, or be in park or something?

I think just turn the ignition on and press the button with a pen. =)

It's all in the manual. =)

Dude! Those are cool! I like the placement much better than on the T/A, I used to hit 'em on accident all the time, especially when backing into a parking spot. I guess Im spending the weekend studying that manual! lol

Im not too sure about those clear lights, I havent seen any in person yet. Some vehicles they look good on and others they dont. They look pretty good on your red one though huh? That's cool! Did ya figure out the wiring on the others yet? Dont you have a multi-meter or test light to help you?

Thumbs up

I just went and picked up a little volt tester. The place I bought them from told me which lead was power on the new set up. So I solder it in and heat shrinked the area to keep moisture out. It's good to go. I might take pics tonight.

Red? Not for me. I dont need anymore attention from the boys in blue. Actually they did'nt even have any other color R/T's on the lot, the black one (that I bought) was the only R/T there! I was kinda wanting that dark blue color, or the dark purple, but the more I looked at this one, the more I knew it was for me. Its been so long that Ive driven anything on a regular basis (my Dak is white, but its more a toy, then anything!) that was'nt black, I was afraid I would'nt be able to find my own vehicle on a parking lot!

LOL Kevin, a link to another link! Yeah, that's an o.k. color too, but I think the Purple is still my favorite...just dont let my R/T find out! Actually the black is really growing on me, I think it looks nice with the grey/tan interior.

I love black also. But since my T/A was black I didn;t want another one. The Pull me over red works just fine.
