I'm a Dakota guy, but picking up 38 HP with synthetics is BS. I worked for Cities Service Oil and Gas for 14 years and the lube-lab guys said MAYBE 2-3% more HP. The things that gained me the most gas mileage were going one range cooler than stock on spark-plugs(cured the pings too on reg. unleaded) and a 180* thermostat. Mid-grade or premium will drop your mileage and cost more. The 5.2/5.9 is supposed to 9:1; the 4.7 9.2:1 CR. Take a half-point off that for a real production motor. You should be able to run on Coleman fuel. If you don't have 3.92 rear-gears, that'll GAIN some mileage on the porky Durango. Guys on the Ram forum with 3.21 "gas mileage" gears are always surprised when someone gets 4.10's and their mileage goes UP! Small motor+ heavy vehicle= needs lots of gear to get it moving. Remember, in the late 60's and early 70's, we would have demanded a 400CID in a 4000lb++ vehicle and 2.92 axle minimum. A New Yorker or Imperial weighs less than a Durango, and 383, 400's and 440's were normal engines. HP not so terribly different, but anywhere from 100-180 ft/lbs more toooooorque.

Guys:

I am running synthetics, have headers and performance muffler, an IP Stage II, and a Fastman TB. I'm also running the colder plugs. I had to do bad math or something to get that bad of mileage. I must have? Somethings wrong somewhere.
