46RE behind D R/T? & starter question.
I built a 408 for my Jeep GC using a Durango R/T oil pan. I went to button everything up tonight, but the starter wouldn't fit due to the wider rear of the new oil pan.
Did the D R/T's come with 46REs? Are the starters located on the drivers side? If anyone knows the approx dimenstions, or has a picture or part number, that would be helpful. TIA, -Spaz |

Spaz, I believe you are gonna have to use a notched ZJ oil pan. I have a Durango and they have the same tranny bell housing as the Ram. The 46 series transmissions for the ZJ's have the starter in a different position.

You're right. The bellhousing is totally different. The D starter is on the opposite side.
I ended up 'modifying' the pan with a ball peen hammer & filing a bit off of the stock ZJ starter to make everything fit. Thanks! -Spaz |
