My brother and I just attended a local race last weekend after not seeing one in a long time and we ended up talking to a racer in the pits about his car. After playing around with occasional drag racing, this looks like a lot more fun. Anyhow, we looked into the rules, and it doesn't seem that complicated, as we can fabricate and build, however we're wondering what a good chassis would be to start. We're as far North as Wissota runs, so that's the rules we'll have to meet. I know that buying someone else's used car is probably the cheapest way into this, however all that's being run locally ar GM metric chassis, and all the extra parts we have are 318 and 360 mopar and related.

Basically, we're limited to a wheelbase of 110 or longer if we run a uni-body, so that rules out a '70 Duster that I was parting out anyway... What's the "better" choice in chassis? A-body Dart with 111" wheelbase, F-M-J body with 112" wheelbase, or late B-body with 115" wheelbase? I have fairly solid '78 Magnum shell, or have a 1966 Dart at 111" wheelbase. We have plenty of early A-body parts, so this one is what I'm leaning towards.

Any tips or pointers? This might turn into a winter project for next summer.

hey there, i'm looking for some tips or advise from someone who knows hydraulic clutches.
i have a 1960 fargo 1/2 ton pickup. v8 313 in it. everything under the hood is original or close to it. i was having some clutch issues and narrowed it down to the master cylinder.( with some help of coarse). after alot of searching i found the same one. installed it.
bled and bled and bled. not working. after further inspection i found that the slave cylinder was also bad. the truck had been sitting for close to 4 years.

now i have a new master and slave cylinder. installed properly and bled numerous times. but... still cannot engage any gears. i'm getting about 3/8 travel on the armature coming from the slave cylinder. same parts not as much travel?

is this a matter of extending that armature or possibly the one from pedal to master?

any ideas or facts would be greatly appreciated

keep in mind i am not at all a mechanic. but would like to know my way around my old trucks!

thanks

YOU DECIDE WHAT THEY SAY!!!!

I had always wanted my hood emblems to really show what I had under there. All the work stroking the engine and increasing displacement. Now when someone asks what I have under the hood I can just point at these beautiful emblems and they do the talking for me.

These are machined from solid aluminum to resemble factory emblems. Polished and painted with automotive paints and then CLEARCOATED for UV protection to last a lifetime. These emblems attach using High Strength 3M automotive moulding tape.

Due to the custom nature of your emblem, expect a week turn-around for machining and curing of hand painted finish.

We have made a number of different combinations so please feel free to request a photo of your requested emblem. We may have a picture on file to show you what it will look like.

Hanging out in the kitchen before work yesterday morning about a half dozen folks were discussing marriage and whether it was a good thing or not. One of them asked me how long I've been married and another, who's just divorced his third wife, asked me how you love someone that long. I told him it was a decision and once I made that decision I tried to do those things that support that decision. He said he didn't understand so I tried an analogy.

I said suppose you buy a new car that you really like and you decide you're going to keep it forever. After making that decision you then do those things that help the car last a long time, in general, you treat it as if you can't afford to lose it.

The conversation made me wonder about the statistic that 50% of marriages end in divorce. The folks that stay married only get counted once but the folks that divorce and re-marry are counted at least twice.
