Default Memory Seat Function has Old-timers

I have a 2005 Pacifica which I really like...except the memory seat (and mirror position, radio presets, etc.) works sporadically at best. The better half and I share this vehicle and we have very different preferences so the memory function is nice when it works. How do I:

1. Restore the full function of this feature? Or,

2. Disable the function so I don't have to re-adjust seat and mirrors every time I get in the car?

Our 2005 Jeep GC had this same problem FWIW.

Thanks for the help.
