Default T & C Cruise control

Have 2000 T&C which has trouble keeping speed under cruise control on hills, especially in higher altitudes (New Mexico, Colo). Have had dealer check for vaccumn leaks and sensor problems and they find nothing. Also, twice at higher elevation, after a short accelaration, I applied the brakes and it felt like there was no vaccum assistance and gave me a very hard pedal. Dealer
said that this could be normal (?) if the ABS was performing a self test at the moment that I applied pedal. This sounds like BS to me.
Any help or thoughts, direction, or contacts is appreciated.

Have the dealer check and install an additional vacuum check valve into the cruise servo vacuum line between the reservoir and the engine or just simply replace the faulty battery tray(reservoir is built in).

Have done this repair hundreds of times to fix what you are describing.

Hard pedal could also have been caused by lack of vacuum but you would have to have depleted the booster vacuum while accelerating.

Were you braking heavily at these higher elevations and this is actually a pedal fade condition(very hot brakes)?

I took the TSB# in to them regarding the checking/replacement of the vac reservoir
but they said the res. held a vac for 20 minutes.
Since I wasn't there, who knows. The brakes were applied at about 20 mph after starting approx. 200-300 ft and then having to stop. I think I am getting the "won't fail, can't fix" routine. It appears that the mechanics can't/won't think how a vehicle works vs. the problem, so they tell you come back when it fails.
Thanks for the help.
