Very funny. Chuzz lives too far away and Ram is afraid of me.

I hope things are cool and stay that way here. As for "we're good now" I have some bones to pick with you.

I will certainly agree with you and Dick on this BillyBob, but if we're really concerned with cleaning up our act why are still offering smilies of a monkey taking a piss, a head being expolded, and a double middle finger salute? Are these appropriate images for 15 year olds to see?

This is exactly my point about the sudden change in policy here. Those smileys have been around forever. Now all of a sudden they aren't "appropriate". What a bunch of bull.

Well IMO, all of the pissing matches (yeah i know ive been involved in a few), name calling and intentional argument starting around here the last few months is more of a detriment to this site than a few questionable jokes. If the joke is too dirty for the board, delete the thread, its as simple as that. Why does it have to turn into the huge thing that it has? It has turned into just another pissing match. We have already lost a few members in the last few months because of it, and that trend will continue as long as things stay the way they are. I kinda miss the days of good info, good debates and the occasional sheep joke here and there. Now its like it has turned into the political arguments and jokes with the occasional info mixed in with the personal slams and bashing. Where the heck did the sheep jokes go for crying out loud! Geeze, Ive even noticed that we are getting to the point of being so petty as to remove some of the smileys because 1 person made a comment about them. I just really think this is out of hand guys and girls, and everyone needs to relax.

Sorry, just had to get that out

To some extent I can agree with you on most of what you have typed. The fact remains that some people can't understand when a joke/statement does not belong on this board even though it may have been done in the past. That is no reason to let the same behavior/postings continue. The smilies that were removed weren't all that necessary in the 1st place.

I liked that sheep joke that one dude, I think his name's Ron White (Mr. Tater Salad) had about the Broke Back Mountain movie, I thought that was knock me off my chair funny, but I don't know if it would be ok for me to put it on here or not. Everyone's probably heard it anyway.

I really was not asking for the smilies to be removed. I was trying to point out that it seems hypocritcal to condone certain jokes when these smilies are offered by the board. I really don't care if they are there or not, and I'm probably not going to be offended by anything I see in the joke forum. As I asked at the beginning of this thread, what is or is not appropriate? I don't mind if the mod's want to clean up the forums a bit, but how politically correct are we going to be? Am I going to be banned for an off color joke in the joke forum, when others blatantly use profanity and name calling in tech forums? If you want to clean it up, then do so, but make it the same for everyone.

Just my $.02

The sheep jokes have died anyway.
I still, am not sure what is so hard about using a bit of class when posting jokes.............if once in a while, one gets posted, really, whats the hurt? There just has been quite a few lately, and the Mods/admin have made it known it is time to back off.
Thats all.

Think of it this way, if you were Abalto, would you want your Mopar related forum to come up on a google search for dirty jokes?

In this day and age, I find it hard to believe that anyone would not know what is or is not appropriate in a public forum which is made up of both sexes, a variety of ethnic groups, countless age levels and statistically, at least, 10% of our readers are homosexual or lesbian.

So, here is a basic list, (my suggestions) in consideration of the above mentioned individuals. There will probably be more added once people start to think about it.

No offensive sexual content.

I hate to use the term offensive because many feel that if they themselves are not offended, then it is OK. This is faulty thinking. A good point of reference is to go to the bulletin board at your place of work. No doubt there is a posting of the company's policy on sexual harassment. Remember, if anyone feels offended, it is harassment. The same applies here. If one reader is truly offended, then it is a bad post.

No ethnic slurs.

That means no derogitory terms to describe any one for their race, color, creed or sexual preference.

No swearing or foul language.

In particular, no F words or even references to F words. Remember that a child or a grandmother could be reading what you wrote.

No crude jokes.

Again, be sensitive to others whom you don't know.

No porno pics or cartoons.

This list is a starter that I am sure will be added to in the future. It is not the policy of the Administration, but just my comments to address the above referenced question. Any Senior Administrator can and probably will add to or subtract from it.

In fairness, I will take my lumps for any posts previously made by me that seem to be contrary to any of the above. Mea Culpa. That was then, this is now. Let's move on with a better Moparchat.

Quote:
THE BILL OF NO RIGHTS
by Lewis Napper

We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great great-great grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bedwetters.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That a whole lot of people were confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim that they require a Bill of No Rights.

* ARTICLE I -- You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any form of wealth.

More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

* ARTICLE II -- You do not have the right to never be offended.

This country is based on freedom, and that means the freedom for everyone, not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots and probably always will be.

* ARTICLE III -- You do not have the right to be free from harm.

If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful. Do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

* ARTICLE IV -- You do not have the right to free food and housing.

Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generations of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

* ARTICLE V -- You do not have the right to free health care.

That would be nice but, from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in government run health care.

* ARTICLE VI -- You do not have the right to physically harm other people.

If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

* ARTICLE VII -- You do not have the right to the possessions of others.

If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen TV or a life of leisure.

* ARTICLE VIII -- You don't have the right to demand that our children risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience.

We hate oppressive governments and won't lift a finger to stop you from going to fight, if you'd like. However, we do not enjoy parenting the entire world and do not want to spend so much of our time battling each and every little tyrant with a military uniform and a funny hat.

* ARTICLE IX -- You don't have the right to a job.

All of us sure want all of you to have one, and will gladly help you in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

* ARTICLE X -- You do not have the right to happiness.

Being an American means that you have the right to pursue happiness -- which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
Anyone thin-skinned enough to be offended by something posted here really needs to read the above, especially Article II. I'd really like to shoot the rotten bastard that started the whole "political correctness" movement.

Oh, I forgot to mention that people who do not know who their father is would probably not appreciate the term bastard.

Perhaps the person who started the whole "political correctness" movement would like to shoot those who made it necessary.

If you wouldn't want your 10 year old daughter to read/see/hear what you plan to say, it probably won't pass muster here either, and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Perhaps it's time to review the Forum Rules that we all agreed to abide by when we joined this forum, namely, "By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws." Although, we have gotten away with reckless driving, now and then, those circumstances do not warrant a pardon when we are pulled over. We knew the rules before we got behind the wheel.

Dick - I like it! That is certainly the start of the right kind of outline we need to clean this place up a bit. This is no place for some of the material that we have had to read in the past. We need to refine this list and post it in the rules and regulation section of the site.

My motto has always been, "If it's clean, tell it. If it's dirty, I've already heard it!". Haven't seen anything on here to change that! LOL So maybe clean from now on?
