Did Robbie Gordon get robbed?
I'm no fan of Gordon, but word on the other boards was Gordon wasn't given his proper racing position and was set back further in the pack than he belonged.
This set off his "fireworks". I didn't get to see the race, so I'm asking the ones who did, did Gordon get screwed? |

Dad mentioned something about that happening, sounds like he got spun just as he crossed the yellow flag, then when he got straightened out they wouldn;t let him have his position back unless he was black flagged but he went back up anyway. Then he proceded to spin the guy that spun him and leave the rest of the cars behind and hold the lead for the rest of the race. NA$CAR put him back in 17th place IIRC even though he crossed the line first and called Harvick the official winner. Gordon is planning on protesting and is accusing NA$CAR on not following their own rules.

That's rich. He usually doesn't follow their rules either!

From what I saw Gordon got around Ambrose when he slowed because of the yellow. Ambrose then tried to go back around Gordon since he should have been in the lead. They got together which caused Gordon to spin. Remember this was all happening under a caution and the field is supposed to be frozen at the instant the yellow flies. That is the reason NASCAR said Gordon was not leading. He was out of place because of his aggressive driving which caused his spin out therefore he was considered to be at fault for the position he found himself in after the spin. My opinion is, by losing his cool he showed how much of a jerk he can be. NASCAR did a lousy job of handling the situation probably because of TV time constraints. The biggest victim here was Ambrose. NASCAR is really starting to stink up the joint! LOL

Ahh, that makes a difference! If Robbie either saw him slow for caution or looked at the video recording later and still thought he was in the right, that's a horse of another color!
He over reacted badly, and no doubt done himself more harm than good. |

From what Dad said when I asked him last night, Gordon's pass was clean and legal, but Ambrose did his damnedest to block him to the point of running Gordon half off the track before he got around and into the lead.

True, the yellow was out when Gordon spun. However, it also was out when Gordon passed Ambrose. Remember the field is frozen at the instant the yellow flies. Nascar wanted to move Gordon to 13th because their rules state you maintain whatever position you wind up in because of your mistake. By passing on the yellow Gordon was responsible for any mishap that occured and therefore did not get his position back. And NASCAR is getting pretty bad but they are not a democracy so they get to set whatever rules they want. I think WWF is the correct term! LOL

And that's what's killing them, IMHO.

There was no reason for Gordon to be made to go back to 13th position. The arbitrary application of the rules to please the governing body and give them the outcome they want, is really making the racing hard to follow.
